A Tribe Called Red está imparable en cuanto a estreno de sencillos, videos y más material alrededor de su próximo disco en su afán de compartir música y los sonidos nativos de su lugar de origen, Canadá. Ahora nos traen “ᓯᓚ (Sila)”, nuevo sencillo de la mano de Tanya Tagaq, una cantante de Cambridge Bay en el territorio de Nunavut, Canadá, quien entre sus múltiples reconocimientos está el premio Polaris en 2014. Éste estará incluido en el álbum We are The Halluci Nation que saldrá el próximo 16 de septiembre.

El track “ᓯᓚ (Sila)”, no puede traducirse al inglés o español, es la palabra inuk para referirse a aire, atmósfera o cielo; y fue estrenado el pasado 11 de agosto a través de Noisey Canadá para después estar disponible en todas las plataformas digitales de ATCR.

“We are the Halucia Nation. We are children of Earth and Sky. Our DNA is of land and air. We asked our sister Tanya Tagaq, leader of the norther contingency of our nation, to help us in honoring the part of us that is sky, air, atmosphere. The part of our dna that is Sila. Her gift of breath reminds us of life and reminds us though the simple act of breathing that we are human beings. Tanya helps us see that it is time to rise up and remind each other who we really are. We are the human beings and being human has power.”

“For (sila), it was special for us to work with our dear friend Tanya. For this song it was a true back-and-forth collaboration (not unlike like the traditional throat singing game), where we sent Tanya a beat that she recorded over. Then we took just her vocals and made a whole new track around her throat singing. ᓯᓚ (Sila) doesn’t translate to English but can be substituted with «air», «atmosphere» or «sky».”

El gran estreno de esta semana es el video oficial de “R.E.D. feat Yasiin Bey, Narcy & Black Bear”, el cual fue grabado en Cape Town, Sudáfrica, los primeros días de junio de este año, con una propuesta visual y paisajes increíbles, fue estrenado en exclusiva ayer 17 de agosto a través de Pitchfork.
